Rural Capital of Food....

This part of the East Midlands is a real haven for foodies!  Here at Hrempis Farm we use locally sourced produce whenever possible and are lucky to have so many excellent suppliers on our doorstep.

The area is famed for Stilton cheese and each diary producing  this wonderful delicacy has its own unique flavour and texture. Heated discussions can take place over the merits of Long Clawson v Colston Bassett, Cropwell Bishop over Tuxford and Tebbutt or Websters. The best solution is to taste some and see. Take a look at the Stilton website website to start your own journey of discovery.

To go with a perfect Ploughman's Lunch add a slice of Melton Mowbray Pork Pie. Hand raised pastry filled with  prime pieces of pork, set in jelly and perfectly seasoned. Perfection!  The origins of the Melton Mowbray pork pie go back generations when the pork was cooked in a clay pot which was later replaced with pastry. Huntsman faced with a long day in the saddle could have a meal to tuck into. The history and development make fascinating reading.
